Leverburgh Loft

Leverburgh Loft forms part of our remodelling of the much-loved former Leverburgh Post Office building (The Cauldron), which became redundant in 2017. The pre-existing concrete structure was insulated and clad in distinctive rust red cement board panels and a first floor timber framed extension added to create a generously proportioned apartment of ~ 100 m 2 .

Entering the building into a double height atrium, the staircase winds up to the main living area. This provides a vantage point over the central mill pond of the village of Leverburgh, where sea trout often leap on a summer’s evening. The adjoining kitchen/dining area features hand-made plywood cabinets and a central island with seating and ample space for preparation/cooking, if your aim is to enjoy the best of local produce. A terrace door leads out to a large and private raised deck area with additional seating and mountain views to the summit of Roneabhal. There is access via a bridge to the common grazing land behind the property, with walks to the South Harris hills and the Obbe loch system, where fishing can be arranged.

The Loft benefits from a solar thermal hot water system and a whole building mechanical heat recovery ventilation system.

En-suite facilities include a large walk-in rain shower and separate Japanese style soaking
tub, big enough for two!

There is a 7 kW electric vehicle charger for the exclusive use of guests.

The accommodation is ~ 300m from the Leverburgh Community Shop (An Clachan) which has a wide selection of groceries, baked goods, fresh vegetables and local produce. There are also 24 hour petrol/diesel pumps.

Accessability note – please note that the living accommodation in Leverburgh Loft is accessed via a staircase (16 steps). There is an additional step at the entrance door threshold. Please contact us if more information is required.
